Wow, that was an amazingly vivid dream. It's wonderful that at your early age, you were able to play it back after you awoke, which helped you remember it as an adult.
I would love to have an REM experience like yours. At my advanced age, my dreams usually involve me being lost and trying to find my way out. (In my last one, I somehow got lost in Wisconsin Dells, certainly not a "heavenly" experience).
When I was younger, I used to be fascinated by stories of dreams. Now, I don't pay much attention to them. But in the Bible, dreams really do have a surreal way of blurring the space between Heaven and Earth for our characters (thus, the images of Jacob's ladder in the article). Nonetheless, I would not like to be lost in the Dells either by dream or reality.
That’s also a bit of a longer story but the short version is that, honestly, it was free pizza. A friend of mine invited me to his youth group where they had free pizza and I felt welcomed. I began looking forward to Wednesday nights. Then the time came for a Summer missions retreat in Iowa and I realized I wanted to be part of the story they were telling rather than the one I was trying to tell.

Well that’s a vivid story but now i am so curious how you came to be a Christian!
